Shake up your day in 5 minutes

We've all been in the place where each day feels like the last. The routine takes over and we land on Friday looking back and wondering "What actually happened this week?"

I have a trick I love to use to shake things up. I found that when I break up the routine, even in little ways, there is a ripple effect. I end up more energized, trying out new things, and get to the end of the week feeling like I actually did something.

I use the 5x5min structure.

5 times throughout the workday, you will do 5 different activities for 5 minutes each. I recommend you spread them throughout the day for the most impact.

To get started:

  • Decide how you will pick your activity. For example, you can roll dice, pick a number or activity out of a bowl, or ask google to pick a random number.

  • Decide when you will pick your activity. Make sure what you pick supports you doing it throughout the workday.

  • Get your list of 20 activities. I have added one for you here or you can create your own. If you are creating your own, be sure you have a variety of tasks. Tap into movement, creativity, health, learning, connection, and more.

  • Give yourself permission to change your list! Remember, the goal here is to shake things up so if you are OVER one, change it.

If you create your own list or have activities you LOVE landing on, share them here. I'm always looking for new things to put on my list.

Enjoy shaking things up!
