I quit my job so I could share these insights with you

First, Celebration Dance

October 1st marks 1 year as a full-time coach. Woohoo!

It has been an incredible year full of experimenting, learning, and making so many new friends. I've been out of my comfort zone for over 50% of the year and have done things that surprised me:

  • I love making designs to go with my content

  • I'm on YouTube (Subscribe to Coaches & Dragons)

  • I now call myself creative (I am so creative)

  • I did an interview where I shared my Toxic Workplace story (Watch it here)

  • I went through 3 iterations of my website, each one is MORE me.

That's not why you're here though. "What's in it for me, Autumn?!"

Here are the goodies for you

1 year ago I transitioned out of the corporate world. I became my own boss and get to do the work that makes my heart sing.

Are you now picturing me as a Disney princess with animals singing and dancing around me? I'll take it! :)

Here are the three biggest things I learned over the past year that may also help you:

Find your village

Humans are social creatures. You need a support system. You need people who lift you up when you need it. You need people you can lift up when they need it.

You need it to be a village that supports WHO you want to be and HOW you want to be.

I have a great friend group. I thought that would be enough. It wasn't. Not for any awful reason. I still love them all and call them my closest friends. I needed a village that understood where I was, what I was doing, and where I wanted to go. I found a community with coaches and other business owners who know how much work goes into a single LinkedIn post.

Find your village. You may have several of them. That's awesome!

The words you use matter way more than you think

This isn't some toxic positivity rant. Things aren't all sunshine and rainbows.

The words you use really do matter. They have the power to open or close doors to possibilities, emotions, actions, and more.

The biggest one: BUT Y'all, just change that BUT to AND. It's a magic trick!

Check this out: Person 1: I really want to start this exciting thing BUT I have so much going on. Person 2: I really want to start this exciting thing AND I have so much going on.

What vibe do you get after reading each of those? Would you respond differently to each person? Which one do you think is more likely to start that exciting thing?

Pay attention to the words you use when you talk to yourself or tell your story. Heck, pay attention to the words your friends use when they tell their story.

Friends don't let friends say BUT. :)

Just f'n start...seriously

You know what you want to do. You know what you need to do.

You are a person who knows how to get sh!t done. You have solved so many problems for yourself and others.

So, that thing you really want to do.

Just f'n start today. Seriously.

Set a timer for 10 minutes, get out a sheet of paper, and write down all the things you could do today to start.

Pick one.

Tomorrow, pick another one.

Keep it going.

Autumn, how can I celebrate with you?

Oh wow. That is so kind of you to ask. It really is just the thought that counts.

Well...since you asked though, here's what would make me super happy.

Share this newsletter with 5 awesome people who support you and love to laugh at bad jokes while they learn something.

Thank you!
